📖 Inside this lesson

🚌 Direct Buses from Incheon Airport Across Korea 🇰🇷
You don't always have to go into Seoul first. From Incheon Airport, buses run directly to cities all across Korea — often cheaper and simpler than a domestic flight or taking the KTX from Seoul.
Korea is smaller than you think: what would be a domestic flight in many countries is just a bus ride here — usually a few hours, comfortable and affordable. Direct destinations commonly include Busan, Daejeon, Daegu, Gwangju, Gangneung, Gyeongju, Jeonju, Pohang, Chuncheon, and more (routes can change, so check current availability).

🚍 Two Kinds of Buses

공항버스 (airport bus / limousine)
Dedicated routes from Incheon — mainly to Seoul and select cities, with simpler boarding (e.g. routes 6001, 6002).
시외버스 / 고속버스 (intercity / express bus)
The nationwide network connecting cities across Korea, usually with reserved seats for longer trips.

📍 Where to Find Them

Right outside the arrivals exit.
• Terminal 1 — stops are outside on the 1st floor (arrivals level) • Terminal 2 — most intercity buses leave from B1 (basement 1)
Different routes use different platform numbers, and signs are in Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese. If unsure, the airport Information Desk can show you the exact platform.

🎫 Buying Tickets (3 ways)

• At the airport ticket counter (English-speaking staff, card/cash) • From the driver (cash, T-money, or card) • Online in advance — Kobus (kobus.co.kr) for express buses, Bustago (bustago.or.kr) for intercity buses (both in English)

🗣️ Helpful Korean Phrases

부산행 주세요 (bu-san-haeng pyo han jang ju-se-yo) → "One ticket to Busan, please." (swap in any destination)
다음 버스 언제예요? (da-eum beo-seu eon-je-ye-yo?) → "When's the next bus?"
시간 걸려요? (myeot si-gan geol-lyeo-yo?) → "How many hours does it take?"
어디서 타요? (eo-di-seo ta-yo?) → "Where do I board?"

ℹ️ Good to Know

Approximate travel times from Incheon:
• Daejeon ~3 hours · Daegu ~4 · Busan ~5 · Gangneung ~4
Seat classes:
일반 (standard) · 우등 (premium, wider seats) • 프리미엄 (super premium, near-private cubicles)
Large luggage is stored underneath, some routes run late at night (with a surcharge), and fares vary by route, class, and time. If your destination isn't Seoul, going direct can save you a detour. 💛
