🚕 Master Taxi Korean in 7 Phrases 🇰🇷
Real phrases. Real situations. From the moment you get in until you pay, these seven lines cover every taxi ride in Korea.
📍 #1 · Getting in
○○로 가주세요
(○○-ro ga-ju-se-yo)
→ "Please go to ○○."
The most important taxi phrase — replace ○○ with any destination. Show it on your phone if pronunciation is hard.
💰 #2 · Before you go (rough cost)
○○까지 얼마 정도 나와요?
(○○-kka-ji eol-ma jeong-do na-wa-yo?)
→ "About how much to ○○?"
Also useful:
요금이 얼마 정도 나와요?
(yo-geum-i eol-ma jeong-do na-wa-yo?)
→ "About how much will it cost?"
💡 Tip
정도 (jeong-do) means "about" — drivers give a rough idea, the meter shows the final fare.
🧳 #3 · Luggage
트렁크 좀 열어주세요
(teu-reong-keu jom yeol-eo-ju-se-yo)
→ "Please open the trunk."
💡 Tip
좀 (jom) softens your request — like adding "please".
⏰ #4 · On the way
얼마나 걸려요?
(eol-ma-na geol-lyeo-yo?)
→ "How long does it take?"
💡 Tip
정도 (jeong-do) means "about" — common in estimates.
🛑 #5 · Arriving
여기서 세워주세요
(yeo-gi-seo se-wo-ju-se-yo)
→ "Please stop here."
💡 Tip
Unlike buses, taxis can stop wherever it's safe and legal.
💳 #6 · Paying
카드 돼요?
(ka-deu dwae-yo?)
→ "Do you accept card?"
💡 Tip
Most Korean taxis accept cards and T-money. '돼요?' means "is it okay?"
🧾 #7 · The final cost
얼마예요?
(eol-ma-ye-yo?)
→ "How much is it?"
💡 Tip
Some taxis have the meter up front (hard to see from the back seat) — so just ask! 얼마예요? works everywhere.
🔑 The magic ending: ~주세요
• 가주세요 (ga-ju-se-yo) — "Please go"
• 열어주세요 (yeol-eo-ju-se-yo) — "Please open"
• 세워주세요 (se-wo-ju-se-yo) — "Please stop"
~주세요 turns any verb into a polite request. Master it and you can ask for almost anything — just add ~주세요 to a verb stem for an instant polite request.
