🚕 Taxi Types in Korea — Know Your Options 🇰🇷
Taking a taxi in Korea is easy once you know the types. Here are the four you'll see most often — choose the right one and your ride is smoother (and clearer to the driver).
🚖 The Four Types
🚕 1. 일반택시
(il-ban-taek-si)
— Regular Taxi
The standard, most common taxi. Affordable and everywhere. This is what most travelers use day to day.
🖤 2. 모범택시
(mo-beom-taek-si)
— Deluxe Taxi
Usually black with a yellow sign. More expensive, but offers experienced drivers and a more comfortable ride.
🚐 3. 대형택시
(dae-hyeong-taek-si)
— Large Taxi
A bigger vehicle, good when you have lots of luggage or a small group traveling together.
🌐 4. 인터내셔널 택시
(in-teo-nae-syeo-neol taek-si)
— International Taxi
Drivers who speak English (and sometimes other languages). Great for the airport, longer trips, or your first day in Korea.
🗣️ Useful to know
Most taxis accept card payment, and you can tell the driver your destination in Korean — or just show it on your phone.
목적지를 한국어로 보여주세요
(mok-jeok-ji-reul han-gug-eo-ro bo-yeo-ju-se-yo)
→ "Let me show you the destination in Korean."
