🧭 How to Ask for Directions in Korean 🇰🇷
Even with map apps, you'll sometimes need to ask a real person for directions in Korea — in a subway station, on a busy street, or near a tourist spot. These phrases get you unstuck politely.

⭐ The Core Phrase

어떻게 가요? (eo-tteo-ke ga-yo?) → "How do I get there?"
Add a place name in front: "홍대 어떻게 가요?" = "How do I get to Hongdae?"

🗣️ More Useful Lines

여기가 어디예요? (yeo-gi-ga eo-di-ye-yo?) → "Where am I?"
~/ 어디예요? (~i/ga eo-di-ye-yo?) → "Where is ~?"
e.g. "화장실이 어디예요?" = "Where is the bathroom?"
지하철역이 어디예요? (ji-ha-cheol-yeok-i eo-di-ye-yo?) → "Where is the subway station?"
여기 맞아요? (yeo-gi ma-ja-yo?) → "Is this the right place?"
가까워요? (ga-kka-wo-yo?) → "Is it close?"

🧱 Direction Words You'll Hear in Replies

왼쪽 (oen-jjok) — left • 오른쪽 (o-reun-jjok) — right • 직진 (jik-jin) — go straight • 여기 (yeo-gi) — here • 저기 (jeo-gi) — over there
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
💡 Start with 저기요 (jeo-gi-yo, "excuse me"), then ask. Koreans are generally very willing to help lost visitors, and many will walk you part of the way. 💛
